We had this sign on the front of our door for months (not the sign pictured above) that basically instructed UPS to take deliveries around to the back. It was pretty basic. I put the GOST and Knives Logo on the top and then just wrote something up like, “Please take all deliveries around to the back,” and included directions to the garage.

My office window faces the street, so that we can see whenever someone walks by or comes to the front door. The GOST Offices are located in Downtown Santa Ana, which is an urban area with a lot of foot traffic and we have just been fascinated by how many random people stop to read the entire sign. Often times they will walk all the way up to it to make sure that they get every detail. And all it says is TAKE DELIVERIES AROUND TO THE BACK!!
Michael came up with the idea of putting something funny up there, or something that would actually freak people out. As long as people were going through the trouble of stopping to read the sign, why not make it something worth reading?

Michael, G-MO and I brainstormed and we came up with the idea to make an official notice from the city, like a Letter of Condemnation or an Eviction Notice, but we decided to make it a Warning instead, that the premises were HAUNTED!

I made up a fake “City of Santa Ana” seal complete with the GOST and Knives Logo and drafted a notice that I tried to make look as legit as possible. We printed it out on yellow paper to give the notice extra credibility (which TOTALLY worked!) and then we put it up on the front door.

We were so excited about our idea that we immediately printed up more copies and took them with us on our lunch break to post around downtown Santa Ana!

We mostly targeted vacant buildings or offices because it made it look more authentic (and because it was less risky!). But we did manage to get one up at McDonald’s.
It was amazing because the notices looked SO authentic and people would TOTALLY stop to read them. It was so rewarding whenever someone would stop to read the notice and then would press their face up against the window to try to get a closer look at a “real” haunted building.

We ran into Victor while we were making the rounds and he was sporting a GOST tee, so I gave him some of our notices and recruited him into the cause.

And now through the miracle of technology I am able to recruit all of you.
I made a more generic version of the Notice that we posted around Santa Ana. The generic version (pictured above) doesn’t mention any particular city and instead of referring to “Haunted Buildings” it just says “Haunted Area” so that you could pretty much put it anywhere.
You can download the GOST Haunted Notice by clicking the link below. Then all you have to do is print them out and then go out and post them up!

Don’t forget to use colored paper if you really want to add credibility!
Now let the GOST invasion begin!
