For the uninitiated, Alexa is software that you can download that tracks the rankings (popularity) of every single site on the world wide web. I’ve blogged about it before, but basically all you need to know is that after you install the software every time you visit a site its Alexa ranking will appear in the bottom right corner.

When I left Franco Shade our Alexa ranking was around 250,000. When I started this site for GOST our Alexa ranking was around ten million!

Curiously, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that our ranking shot all the way up from the mid nine MILLIONS to around 375,000. This was a HUGE leap!
Either there is a giant wasteland of websites all bunched together just occupying space between ten million and 400,000 (which I don’t doubt), or it takes Alexa a couple of months to track your statistics before it can come up with a meaningful ranking.
I am leaning toward the latter, but either way it feels good to have made it through the vast, virtual wasteland and to have GOSTbrand.com finally competing among the top 400,000 sites on the web!
And just think, if it wasn’t for Alexa I would never have even known that was a good thing.
We’re number three-hundred, seventy-three thousand, five-hundred, fifty-eight!! Woo-hoo!!
