Jess and I went out to the Bitter Cold Showdown (BCSD) over the weekend in Royal Oak Michigan, just outside of Detroit. The BCSD is the biggest rollerblading contest in the US.

GMO gave us a ride to the airport.

Some of you may remember rollerblading from the X Games (before it was dropped) or from the movie Airborne. Many of you will probably be surprised to learn that rollerblading contests still exist and will probably be even more surprised to learn that they not only exist, but that they are thriving!

Hundreds of people were packed into Modern Skatepark to watch the finals of the BCSD.

I believe that blur at the top of the photo is Montre Livingston doing the trick that sealed his victory at the contest.
Every year the BCSD also hosts a giant industry tradeshow. The GOST line just arrived last week, so we packed it up and dragged it out to Michigan for our big debut!

Setting up the booth was easy. You just have to have a banner (thanks Vanh!), some product and a HUGE ASS!

The response to the GOST line was VERY good! We saw a lot of traffic at our booth.

We were even visited by a kid dressed as a Jack-O-Lantern! In February!!

Chris Edwards was there!

And so was this kid, Kris Troyer, who got Franky tattooed not on just one, but on BOTH legs!!

Rachard got a SUPER EXCLUSIVE GOST x UBIQ tee. More details on this collaboration from GOST and UBIQ coming soon!!

Demetrios got a disgusting masonite burn on his hand.

DISGUSTING!

It was a quick little trip. We arrived Friday night and left Sunday morning. But it lived up to its billing. The contest and tradeshow were every bit as big and impressive as I’d hoped they would be and Michigan was truly BITTER COLD and covered in snow! Daniel Kinney put on an amazing event and George and Modern Skate and Surf were the perfect hosts. We came, we saw, we showed. We drank and partied and bounced.

Lights Out!
